Antike Fundmünzen in Europa (AFE-RGK)

Welcome to AFE-RGK, the coin find database of the Römisch-Germanische Kommission (RGK) des Deutschen Archäologischen Instituts (DAI).

What is AFE?
AFE is developed by the RGK together with the Frankfurt Big Data Lab of the Goethe University, Frankfurt/Main (Karsten Tolle), in cooperation with the project "Finds of Roman Coins in Poland", Archaeological Institute, University of Warsaw (Aleksander Bursche), the Kompetenzzentrum antike Numismatik in Baden-Württemberg, University of Heidelberg (Susanne Börner), and the Institute of Archaeological Sciences at the UNI ELTE, Budapest (Lajos Juhász).

What data is recorded in AFE-RGK?
Although other data from the Federal Republic of Germany are included, the primary focus of AFE-RGK is finds of ancient coins from Germany outside the Empire, which are recorded and published in cooperation with the RGK project Corpus der Römischen Funde im Europäischen Barbaricum (CRFB). AFE-RGK will host the numismatic data for the online database of CRFB, with which it will be linked.

Linked Open Data
AFE employs the concepts and stable numismatic identifiers of nomisma.org, and is embedded in the world of Linked Open Data through reference to resources such as iDAI.bibliography for bibliographical and iDAI.gazetteer and GeoNames for spatial data.
